BUYING A PUPPY
INTRODUCING A NEW ADDITION TO YOUR FAMILY
In our household, our dogs are an integral part of our daily lives. We prioritise their well-being by ensuring that someone is always present with them, rather than leaving them alone while we go to work. Raising puppies requires a significant investment of time and effort, as they thrive when surrounded by constant human interaction and stimulation. This environment plays a vital role in preparing them for their future.
For this reason, we firmly believe that being a full-time breeder surpasses simply breeding from a family pet. The commitment to dedicating ample time and attention to the puppies ensures their optimal development and socialisation, setting them up for success in their future endeavors.
HOW IT WORKS
To initiate the process, I propose beginning with a WhatsApp video call wherein I can introduce you to the adorable puppies. Prior to that, it would be helpful to know your preference: a male or a female companion. Rest assured, this is the perfect opportunity for you to inquire about any concerns or curiosities you may have. There are no silly questions; every query is valuable and worth asking. Feel free to ask away, and I’ll be delighted to provide all the information you seek.
EXCELLENCE MATTERS
Our growing list of satisfied customers stands as a testament to the quality of our service. Numerous reviews from delighted individuals can be found on our website and Facebook page, PENGWOODS.
We believe in fostering lasting connections with our customers, aiming to build friendships that endure. We are committed to maintaining open lines of communication, ensuring that we stay connected even after you bring home your new companion. Should you require any further assistance, guidance, or have any questions along your journey, we are here to support you every step of the way.
OUR BREEDING CANINE FAMILY
We take great pride in our breeding dogs, as they are the foundation of our program. Each one of them is KC Registered and undergoes comprehensive health testing, adhering to the recommended standards set by the Kennel Club for their specific breed. Their well-being and health are of utmost importance to us.
Beyond their invaluable contributions to our breeding program, these dogs hold a special place in our hearts. They are cherished members of our family, showered with love and care every day. In fact, we consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to be involved in such a rewarding occupation. As a testament to our dedication, we do not part ways with our retired dogs, ensuring they continue to enjoy a fulfilling and comfortable life with us.

AT 6 WEEKS OF AGE

Additionally, they will be microchipped, ensuring their identification and security. In just 2 weeks from this point, they will be ready to embark on their new adventures with their forever families.

As part of our comprehensive care routine, they are regularly dewormed every 2 weeks from birth. just before they leave our care, we take extra measures to ensure their protection by administering worm and flea treatments. All these vital records and documentation will be compiled and provided within the puppy pack, serving as a valuable resource for you and your vet and your new companion.
DEPARTING AT 8 WEEKS OF AGE
At the age of 8 weeks, our puppies are ready to embark on their new journeys, well-prepared for the world ahead. We take pride in ensuring their socialisation is a top priority. With our constant presence at home, they receive ample interaction and attention. Our three grandchildren actively engage with the puppies, providing valuable playtime and companionship. Additionally, they are exposed to other dogs and immersed in a vibrant household environment filled with typical household noises and more. To further enhance their socialization experience, we utilize a specially curated puppy socialisation CD, incorporating various sounds that aid in their development and adaptation. By the time they leave our care, these puppies will have received comprehensive socialisation, ready to embrace their new lives with confidence and ease.
ACCOMPANYING YOUR PUPPY, YOU WILL RECEIVE
Upon receiving your puppy, you will be provided with a comprehensive folder that contains all the necessary paperwork, including relevant microchip documentation (KC paperwork for pedigree dogs). This folder will also include a detailed history of your puppy, including records of worming, flea treatments, and their vaccine card. CONSIDERING PETTAXI FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE
If you prefer not to travel to collect your puppy, we offer the convenience of arranging a pet taxi service. We have a reliable and DEFRA registered pet taxi provider who can safely transport your puppy from our location directly to your doorstep. Rest assured that your puppy will be taken care of throughout the journey.
In the case of arranging pet delivery, since we won’t have the opportunity to meet you in person, we kindly request additional information to ensure the best possible match for your puppy. This may include requesting pictures of your home and the environment where the puppy will reside. We may also use Google Maps to familiarise ourselves with the surroundings and ensure the puppy’s future well-being.
Our goal is to make the entire process as smooth and comfortable as possible for you and your new companion, whether you choose to visit us in person or opt for the convenience of pet taxi delivery.
IT’S A VERY BIG STEP
Taking the leap from being with their siblings to embarking on a new life alone is undeniably a major step for any puppy. It’s important to understand that during the initial stages, it’s natural for them to feel a bit reserved and cautious. Therefore, please don’t anticipate too much activity or exuberance on the first day.
However, rest assured that your puppy’s inherent curiosity and playful nature will shine through as they acclimate to their new surroundings. By the second day, you can expect them to adjust and start to express their true personality, making up for any initial quietness. Remember, patience and understanding go a long way in helping your new companion settle in comfortably and confidently.
GETTING READY FOR THE JOURNEY AHEAD
To ensure a safe and comfortable journey, it is advisable to transport your puppy in a crate, a sturdy cardboard box, or a washing basket. If someone accompanies the puppy during the travel, the washing basket can be used, provided it remains secure. Placing a layer of paper or a towel at the bottom of the container will add some extra comfort.
It’s important to be prepared, as puppies can experience some motion sickness during their first few car rides. This is a common occurrence as they adjust to traveling. If you have arranged for the pet taxi service to deliver your puppy, please be aware that they may have had some instances of sickness or other discomfort during the journey.
By taking these precautions and being prepared for any potential travel-related challenges, you can ensure a smoother and more enjoyable journey for your puppy.
SETTLING IN AT HOME
Once your puppy arrives home, it’s essential to manage your expectations as they navigate through a significant day and unfamiliar surroundings. They may engage in a bit of exploration, followed by a well-deserved nap to recharge.
The following day, get ready for some delightful mischief as your puppy begins to feel more comfortable and curious in their new environment. If you have other pets, it’s crucial to supervise their introductions closely. Never allow them to meet on the threshold, as it can create tension or discomfort. Take the necessary precautions to ensure a gradual and controlled introduction between your new puppy and any resident dogs or cats.
By providing a safe and monitored introduction process, you’ll help foster positive relationships and create harmonious dynamics within your furry family.
THE INITIAL NIGHTTIME ADJUSTMENT
The first night can be a significant adjustment for your puppy, as they are accustomed to sleeping in close proximity to their siblings. Sleeping alone may feel unfamiliar and can be a bit unsettling for them. However, there are measures you can take to help ease this transition.
Providing a reasonably sized teddy bear can offer a sense of comfort and companionship, reminiscent of their littermates. This can help alleviate any feelings of loneliness or separation during the initial nights.
When it’s time for bed, ensure that the room is dark and quiet, creating a peaceful atmosphere conducive to sleep. With a little patience and understanding, your puppy will gradually adapt to their new sleeping arrangement and, hopefully, settle in for a restful night.
PLEASE UPDATE US ON THAT FIRST NIGHT
After spending 8 wonderful weeks with your puppy, of course, we are curious and eager to know how they are adjusting to their new life. We are grateful for you to provide us with regular updates on their progress.
Please do provide us with an update of their first night, and their initial experiences, including their comfort level, sleep patterns, and any noteworthy behaviors. You can also share with us the special moments and milestones as your puppy embarks on this exciting journey.
A LIFETIME OF FRIENDSHIP AND SUPPORT
Even after your puppy has found their forever home, our commitment to you doesn’t end there. We are here to offer guidance and support whenever you need it throughout your journey together. Whether you have questions about training, health, or general care, we are just a message or phone call away.
We sincerely hope that you will keep in touch with us, as we genuinely enjoy hearing updates about our puppies’ lives. We understand that everyone’s level of communication may vary, but if you choose to share photos and stories with us, we would be delighted to be a part of your puppy’s journey.
Our heartfelt wishes go out to your puppy as they embark on their new chapter with you. We hope for nothing but the very best for them, and we’re honored to have played a role in bringing joy and companionship into your life. Remember, our support and friendship are available to you for a lifetime.
A SAFETY NET FOR UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES
In the unlikely event that things don’t work out for any reason, we want you to know that we have a backup plan in place. If circumstances arise where it becomes necessary for your puppy to find a new home, they can always come back to us and be re-homed from here.
While we sincerely hope that such a situation never occurs, we understand that life can bring unexpected changes. We have previous experience in successfully re-homing fully grown dogs, and we are willing to explore all options to ensure the best outcome for your puppy.
In certain cases, we have facilitated the re-homing of dogs on a 3-month trial period, allowing for a smooth transition and ensuring that the new arrangement is a suitable match for all parties involved.
Our primary concern is the well-being and happiness of our puppies, and we are committed to supporting them throughout their lives. Please rest assured that we are here to provide assistance and guidance in any circumstances that may arise.
